April 16, 2009 - Construction was completed on the new $16.8 million Centennial Hills Library in the northwest. Located at 6711 Buffalo and Deer Springs. The 32,431-square-foot library, is part of 45,616sf, Centennial Hills facility. Houses a 22-seat Computerlab, free Wi-Fi, one meeting room with a 62-seat capacity, an art gallery, a bookstore and cafe. This site is also master-planned for a new 17,000sf, 300 seat theatre. Floyd Lamb State Park, 8 miles north of Centennial Hills. In 1933, the Tule Springs Expedition, was the first major effort to explore the archaeological importance of the area surrounding Tule Springs. The Nevada State Museum explored the springs area in 1962 and 1963 confirming that the area was home to Ice Age species as well as early North American Paleo-Indian peoples. Animals discovered ground sloths, mammoths, prehistoric horses and American camels and the first giant condors in Nevada.
